No not the Prince song. There is many variations on the Purple Rain cocktail but we think this one is quite quirky and most true to its name. The sinking of the red grenadine through the blue hue of the other ingredients creates the impression of purple rain, hence how the cocktail gets it name!

FAQs
Can I use a different liqueur instead of blue curaçao?
Yes – try violet syrup for a similar colour without the citrus edge, or swap in crème de cassis for a berry twist.
How do I control the “rain” effect?
Pour the grenadine very slowly over the back of a bar spoon—this helps it settle through the blue layer instead of mixing straight away.
