The Hugo Spritz, a popular alcoholic aperitif, has its origins in South Tyrol and is now widely consumed in Triveneto, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. This refreshing beverage is made from a combination of prosecco, elderflower syrup (or lemon balm syrup), seltzer (or sparkling water), and mint leaves.
Many are calling it the drink of the summer! The increasing popularity of this beverage can be attributed to our collective love for prosecco. It is an exceptionally refreshing drink, making it the perfect choice for a hot summer’s day! Plus, the Hugo Spritz is really easy to make!

The Hugo Spritz Ingredients
- 20ml elderflower cordial
- 25ml Gin (1 shot)
- Ice
- 25ml soda water
- 120ml prosecco
- Garnish with a wedge of lime and a few mint leaves
The Hugo Spritz Cocktail Recipe
- First, scrunch the mint in your hands to bruise it slightly and place it in the bottom of a large wine glass.
- Add the elderflower cordial and Gin, allowing the mixture to infuse for 1-2 minutes.
- Next, fill the glass with ice and pour in the soda water and prosecco.
- Gently stir the ingredients to combine.
- Garnish with a sprig of mint and a lime wedge, and enjoy!
