We’ve all been there – the sun finally peaks out from behind the clouds for ten minutes and you suddenly feel the urge to drink something that isn’t a builder’s tea. This Strawberry & Elderflower Gin Fizz recipe is essentially a summer garden in a glass. It’s light, looks great, and more importantly, it’s a bit more interesting than your standard G&T.

The mix of fresh strawberries and elderflower is a classic for a reason. It’s sweet without being a total sugar-overload, and because we’re topping it with soda, it stays refreshing enough to have a second one without feeling too weighed down.

Strawberry & Elderflower Gin Fizz Cocktail Recipe

Only seven steps to make the perfect Strawberry & Elderflower Gin Fizz!

  1. Add the strawberries into your shaker. Give them a proper mashing with a muddler until they’re basically a pulp. If you don’t have a muddler, the end of a rolling pin does the job just fine.
  2. Add the gin, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, and sugar syrup to your shaker.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice. Give it a hard, fast shake for about 15 seconds. You want it cold enough that the outside of the metal feels like it’s going to freeze your hand.
  4. Grab a tall highball glass and fill it with fresh ice and a few extra strawberry slices.
  5. Pour the drink through a hawthorne strainer and a fine sieve strainer. This catches all the strawberry seeds and bits of pulp so the drink stays smooth.
  6. Finish it off with a splash of soda water and a quick, gentle stir, then garnish.
  7. Serve, sip and enjoy!

FAQs

What if I don’t have elderflower liqueur?

You can swap the liqueur and the sugar syrup for a good glug (about 20-25ml) of elderflower cordial.

What if I don’t have a shaker?

If you haven’t got a shaker, you can actually make this directly in the glass. Just muddle the berries at the bottom, stir in the gin, elderflower and lemon, fill with ice, and top with soda. It’ll be a bit messier with the seeds, but it’s still delicious.
