The Mimosa cocktail is named after the yellow-flowered mimosa plant, (Acacia dealbata). The combination of sparkling wine mixed with orange juice has been consumed for centuries in Spain, especially in regions where oranges and Cava are plentiful, for example in Valencia & Alicante. Theories around the origin of the Mimosa date back to the early 1900’s.
Note: The Buck’s Fizz is a similar type of cocktail, however contains twice as much champagne as orange juice.
