The Spicy Margarita Cocktail is a close descendent of the traditional Margarita. Stories date the origins of the Spicy Margarita to the early 2000’s when Julio Berejo, owner of Tommy’s Mexican Restaurant in San Francisco started infusing Tequila with habanero peppers.
Spicy Margarita Cocktail Ingredients
- 60 ml Tequila (We used Jose Cuervo Tequila)
- 25 ml Cointreau
- 30 ml Lime Juice + extra for the salty rim
- 20 ml Sugar Syrup
- 1 x Chilli Pepper
- Salt
- A Chilli Pepper & Lime Wedge to garnish
Spicy Margarita Cocktail Recipe
Only seven steps to make the perfect Spicy Margarita Cocktail!
- Add a sliced chilli to a cocktail shaker and then muddle to release the juices.
- Add ice to the shaker.
- Add the Tequila, Cointreau, Lime Juice & Sugar Syrup to the shaker.
- Shake the shaker hard for around 2 – 3 minutes until the outside of the shaker turns cold.
- Dip the rim of a martini or coupe glass into Lime Juice and Salt to give a salty rim.
- Double strain into the martini or coupe glass.
- Garnish with a Chilli Pepper & wedge of Lime.
